XiTRACK™ Projects: Tottenham
South Junction
A
range of tailored XiTRACK
Polymers was applied to ballast at Tottenham South Junction (Tottenham Hale
side) in 2005 to incorporate vertical and
horizontal XiTRACK reinforcement in the
transitions around the steel-deck bridge. This complicated site on the important route to
Stansted Airport was prone to geometry and alignment
problems in the transition area of the bridge and around
the associated switch; frequent
attention to the track and ballast had been necessary for
a long time.
A complex scheme of vertical and lateral XiTRACK reinforcement of the
transition area was designed to improve the performance under local heavy passenger and freight loading and
particular attention was paid to the ballast on the bridge
deck itself near to the point machines. Treatment took
place during a planned track renewal period and did not
impact on the timing of this, tamping was carried out the
the installed site - the XiTRACK Treatment was especially designed to allow conventional
maintenance as this was a specified factor in the job
brief.
The site has performed as expected.
